With the cold front came cookies....

Long time, no cookies.

I'm going to be honest...I got burned out. I'm finally back to the point that I can look at a cookie without hating it. And boy, I think I really made a winning set to welcome myself back to the game. Not only that, the humidity has been super low with the weather change, which makes decorating SO MUCH easier. Ironically enough, my first request in some time was for Frozen themed cookies. Based on my humble opinion, and votes from my peeps, these may be the best ones yet. I'm pretty proud of these :)

I REALLY love them. I have a second project going, I hope to ice those tomorrow.

They will hopefully look and taste like caramel apples. I got my inspiration from LilaLoa, she is truly hilarious, and talented. You can see them here.

Since its been a while, I thought I would put a puppy photo in here too. She is 10 months old, holding steady at 38.5 pounds, and has effectively chewed through two dog beds since the cold snap....fun times in the terrible two stage.  Here she is, being a good girl, and helping me with the pot roast:

That's is for now, stay warm!

Disney Characters....finished goods

I am going to be honest....I did not love how these turned out.  Okay, really honest - I didn't even like them.  It is funny how I can see things in my head, but then they just don't translate.  I will say however, that I received word back that the cookies were a hit at the party, and that is the only thing that matters to me.  The first picture would be an example of real photography with a real camera, at the party.  The other pictures were taken in my kitchen, with an iPhone, before the cookies were transported to the party.

Now, per my calculations, I will be out-of-town for four of six weeks, luckily I have one week behind me.  This means that I am gearing up for a baby shower in Austin around a trip to Kansas.  I am also planning for a wedding in Longview around a four day trip to Dallas.  But, I am SO EXCITED for the baby shower cookies, of course I am not going to post my plans for those because mama may see them, but I will post an update after the fact.  Have a good week!

True Character Cookies in the making......

I am not sure how many Disney orders this makes, but I have to be honest, I am really nervous this time.  I will ice them tomorrow night.....I just hope I can pull them off.  Here is a sneak peek:

Disney Cookies

At the Departmental Christmas Luncheon I mentioned in my previous post, our department head's wife introduced me to a friend of hers.  This friend was in search of Disney cookies for her grandkids and asked for Mickey, Minnie, pirates, and Rapunzel for her first order, and at the same time, placed a second order for Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, and more mice.  Lucky for me, I remembered a beautiful Cinderella cookie that I chose to use as a general princess template:

I actually printed this picture out (in the size I needed), and used it to hand cut all of my princess cookies.  I also did a bit of internet research and even busted out the crayola stash to make sure I had all of the right colors covered.  I am also extremely visual (and love to color) so this was a bit of a process.

I had a Christmas order going at the same time, so you are seeing some of those sketches as well:

Transferred the sketches to each cookie using a food color marker:

Cinderella was easily my favorite.  I had great hopes for Rapunzel, but I wasn't impressed with the finished cookie.  And I just cannot forgive Sleeping Beauty for forcing me to recreate bad bangs and a weird dress.

And the non-princess cookies:
